​Berkshires Beat: Adams Alert Hose Brings Home Awards

Trio of honors: The Alert Hose Co #1 of Adams attended the Bennington Battle Days parade on Aug. 14, in which members pulled their famous parade cart, which was built in 1885.  

The department is well known for wearing their Prince Albert- style buff and white uniforms. This rare uniform style has been preserved by the company as a memorial to its predecessors and is worn proudly with distinction by the alerts today.
 
The Alerts proudly took home three new trophies: the Vermont State Firefighters Association's "Best Appearing Antique Hand Drawn Equipment-Out of State," the Vermont State Firefighters Association's "Best Appearing Marching Unit, With or Without Antique Apparatus-Out of State" and lastly the Bennington Battle Day 2016 "Oldest Hand-Drawn Antique Equipment, Fire-Related."

If you have visited our site before, you may have noticed that we have changed things up a bit. In an effort to make editing and posting easier, we have chosen to utilize Weebly, the drag and drop web editor for the latest version of our website. As with anything new, there will undoubtedly be some issues but we will be working to iron those out and make this edition even better than the previous incarnations. We have worked to get more photos of fires and other incidents posted in the Action Shots section and will be working on populating the Event Shots section with parades, annual ball and other company event photos. 
This News section is much more advanced than the previous page as all items are archived by date (to the right) and can be searched by category (below the archive list).

Note: We are looking for photos of both historic and current fires in Adams. We would be happy to receive digital copies or scan original photos or press clippings for inclusion on our page.
