
Alerts Busy
with Heavy Rains
10/10/05
Members of the Alerts were busy this past weekend...very busy. With the first
storm- related call coming in around 4pm Saturday, fireman were out until
approximately 3am Sunday. The calls of flooded cellars resumed at 6am Sunday and didn't subside until 3pm. The source of the problem was, of course,
the torrential rain that hit the North Berkshire area. The approximately 50
water-related calls left most members both wet and exhausted.
Alerts Present at the Fall Foliage Parade

Members of the Alerts
turned out to take part in the annual Fall Foliage Parade Sunday. The weather was beautiful and the crowds supportive.

Topia Arts Center Opens
9/10/05
The former Adams Theater opened
again after 40 years, this time as the Topia Arts Center. The fire department was called on to be present for the opening
since there was no fire suppression system in place. The performance that night, "The Love Show", an aerial, acrobatic, &
juggling comedy performance -- a silly exploration of serious relationships with performers formerly with Cirque Du Soleil,
Ringling Bros., The Pickle Family Circus, & two International Juggling Association champions, raised money for the purchase of

Alerts Provide Food Concessions

Members of the Alerts turned out to provide hot dogs, popcorn and beverages for the second week of the town's
Movies Under the Stars Friday night. The growing program which provides current release movies on the lawn of the
Town Hall, is a free event that draws hundreds of movie buffs each week. Fridays movie was National Treasure.
Sun and Fun at the Annual Golf Tournament
6/11/05
Hot and humid weather did not deter many from enjoy a fine day of golf Saturday. With temps
in the 90's and the humidity up there as well, one might have expected the golf scores to wilt
but scores were consistently low and many fine shots were witnessed...including a near
hole-in-one on the par 4 seventh hole.

Weather Cooperates with Memorial Day Services
5/30/05
The long stretch of rainy weather finally cleared allowing the town to hold its annual Memorial Day under
brilliant sunshine. The Alerts joined the police department, the boy scouts, the brownies
and other groups in parading down Summer and Park streets to enthusiastic residents. The parade
ended at the town hall for the rest of the services.

Annual Water District Election Results
5/15/05
The Adams Water District held its annual elections and meeting Monday,
May 9 at the fire station. The winners of the election were: Chief of Department- Steve Brown; First Assistant- P.J. Goyette;
Second Assistant- John Paciorek; Third Assistant- John Pansecchi; Fourth Assistant- Tim Ziemba. Also passed at meeting
were articles to appropriate funds for a new rescue pumper.
Annual Water District Election and Meeting

The Adams Water District will hold its annual elections and meeting Monday,
May 9 at the fire station. The Alert Hose Company urges district residents to vote in this
important election.
Annual Solicitation 3/29/05
It is time, once again,
for the Alerts Annual Solicitation.
During the year 2005, the Alerts will be celebrating 129 years of community
service. For over a century, the annual solicitation has been and
continues to be the company's largest fund raiser due to your generosity.
All monies collected through this drive are used to support the numerous
efforts of the company and its volunteers who donate their time and energy in
protecting Adams. Residents should expect to receive their mailing during
the first week of April and are reminded that all contributions are
tax-deductible.
The Alert Hose Company hosted the North Adams Fire Department in order to train
on the departments mobile decontamination trailer. The trailer, purchased by the
state, is used for chemical and other hazardous responses. Deployed at the North
Adams Regional Hospital, it has everything required for setting up a full decon
operation including tents, heaters and gear. Photos of the training.
The Alert Hose Company held its annual kids fishing derby at Plainfield Pond
recently. As usual, the kids enjoyed the outdoor activities while the adults
enjoyed the fire and food. Photos.
